Gategroup is a multi-million dollars company and is a leading global provider of products, services and solutions related to a passenger’s onboard experience. The company specializes in catering and hospitality, provisioning and logistics; and onboard products and services to companies that serve people on the move.
Black Swan wanted to demo the technology that would allow Gate to disrupt the avionics industry and be at the forefront of innovation of inflight retail and connected aircraft.
The goal is to create a platform that airlines use to access Gate’s services regardless of their own technology stack maturity. The most important element of this platform is that Gate stays at the heart of inflight shopping. Black Swan will be using its predictive analytics skills to profile consumers and predict their behavior in order to increase the value per mile whilst helping better manage stock demands and reducing likely wastage. The opportunity is that Gate Group can become the “Amazon in the Sky”
My involvement in this project was in the UI and layout development using HTML and CSS preprocessor, the application was built with Angular 4 based off an existing portal, I was in charge of the design to present the solutions package to the CEO and the company's stakeholders, I helped creating the layout of the demo application. I was also part of the brainstorming process to use Black Swan data science and machine learning expertise to create a smart application that delivers relevant products and services to potential travelers, I worked on the frontend, to create and customize the portal pages and received the following note:
"I thought you would like to know that your demo was very, very well received by Gate yesterday. They want to have something live by the end of the year. Amazing news – I know you worked very hard to make it happen so THANK YOU."
